Banner Carriers Needed for Fall Foliage Festival Parade;
Local, School-aged Children Invited to Participate
For Berkshire Chamber of Commerce volunteers, organizing the 56th Annual Fall Foliage Festival Parade is a daunting task that includes finding a "few good men, women, boys or girls," who are willing to carry the banners of parade sponsors.
A minimum of 150 banner carriers is needed to carry banners of corporate sponsors. Carriers should be at least 11 years of age, since the parade route is two miles long. Those "few good men, women, boys and girls," who are willing to carry the banners of parade sponsors will receive a free official parade t-shirt, available exclusively to banner carriers.
Anyone interested in carrying a banner in the parade may contact Christine Hoyt by email at choyt@berkshirechamber.com.
Congressman John W. Olver to Lead 56th Annual Fall Foliage Festival Parade; Parade Encourages Attendees to “Take PAWS in Northern Berkshire"
The Berkshire Chamber of Commerce and the city of North Adams are proud to announce that Congressman John W. Olver has been named Grand Marshal of the 56th Annual Fall Foliage Festival Parade to be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011. Click here for more information about Congressman Olver.
This year's parade encourages attendees to “Take PAWS in Northern Berkshire." "Take PAWS in Northern Berkshire" is meant to celebrate the great community and host of this annual event, while also adding a fun twist. "It works on lots of levels," remarked Parade Director, Christine Hoyt. "In one regard, it provides us the opportunity to tip our hat and acknowledge the wonderful community here in Northern Berkshire, and in another, it provides a fun angle to creatively inspire float builders and other groups entering the parade this year."
The parade will step off this year on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 1:00 PM from the Wal-Mart parking lot and continue down Curran Highway before winding through downtown North Adams. Thousands of Berkshire residents and visitors enjoy the annual parade, which commemorates the magnificent autumn season.
